This post has nothing to do with the quality of play or the outcome of the game yesterday. Just wanted to say that, in a way, it feels like that was the 1st real Eagles game I’ve watched in 10 years. It kind of hurts that they took that color away from us, and I never realized how much it bugged me until I saw them run out of the tunnel yesterday. The hairs stood up on my arms. I realize that a lot of the young guys are more used to “midnight green” than Kelly, but there is, and only ever has been, 1 color for the Philadelphia Eagles. The color my grandfather knew, the color my father knew, and the color I hope they’ll decide to bring back for good. God I missed those birds- and man it was good to see them again.

Looks like the birds brought in Jeremiah Trotter yesterday for a workout! If anything I’d love to just see him on the sidelines one more time. Oh and a bonecrushing tackle on Eli wouldn’t be bad either. Yeah yeah we know he’s old, but he’s had a year off so maybe his knees are feeling better. Anyway we could use the help. Now we just have to get Dawk back…

Trott, back in the Birds Nest?

I remember back in 1999 being a little bit dismayed that we’d hired a guy with the same name as Jimmy Johnson.  It didn’t take long for me to change my mind about our Jim Johnson.  From Hugh to Dawk to Lito and Trot, Jim kept them flying at the quarterback from the moment he got here.  I love reading about how he found his spiritual home in Philadelphia–it’s hard to imagine another city giving as much love to a coordinator as we gave to Jim and he gave to us.

Thanks for the memories Jim, and here’s hoping your legacy will live on for seasons to come–in a nonstop flurry of whirlwind blitzes!

We had a couple of requests for a tribute t-shirt, and this idea we thought was particularly awesome.  They’re available starting today, and we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to charity.

Keep the Blitz Alive!

So we’ve had this idea for awhile now that we want to make a custom Eagles jersey based on two of our favorite players of all time: Brian Dawkins and Andre Waters. The idea is to cut 1 of each jersey in half and combine them (since they’re both #20) into a WATKINS jersey and a DAWTERS jersey. Half kelley green, half midnight green. Sweet idea, right??

So it’s no problem finding a B-Dawk jersey, but the Waters jersey is a lot harder. We’ve been scouring around with no luck for awhile now.

Does anybody know anybody who’s got one of these who can contribute their jersey to this awesome project? We’d be happy to throw a whole lotta love (and free t-shirts) your way if you’ve got one. And you will be glorified in public on the Philavania page when the combo-jersey is done. Heck, we might even take you to an Eagles game.

(sidenote: ever since i was a kid i wanted a Keith Byars jersey, but never had the cash to shell out for one. if you see one of those lying around too, we’ll take it!)
